A workshop can introduce new knowledge or skills, but lasting learning usually requires practice and feedback afterwards. A follow-up plan helps participants apply what they learned instead of leaving the experience behind once the session ends.
Before the workshop, define the learning outcomes. At the end, give participants a practical assignment or challenge that reinforces the core concepts. Provide a way to ask questions, receive feedback and review progress.
Where suitable, offer mentoring, peer discussions or another project opportunity. Encourage learners to document their work in a portfolio so they can demonstrate what they have practised.
Evaluate the follow-up using evidence of application, skill development and learner feedback. Use the results to improve future workshops.
