A student skilling programme should be evaluated according to the skills it aims to develop. Attendance and completion figures are important, but they do not prove that learners can apply what they studied.
Set clear learning outcomes before the programme begins. Use practical tasks, demonstrations or assessments to establish a baseline and evaluate progress. Collect learner feedback to understand whether the delivery method was effective and where additional support is needed.
Where possible, follow up to see whether learners use the skills in projects, further education or employment. Report outcomes with clear definitions and avoid attributing employment changes to training without sufficient evidence.
