How to Prepare Your Startup for a Media Interview

Prepare for startup media interviews with clear messages, accurate facts, relevant examples and responsible communication.

1 min read

A media interview helps a startup explain its business, but preparation is important to keep the message clear and accurate.

Identify the three most important points the audience should understand. Prepare a simple explanation of the product, the customer problem and the company's current stage. Check any numbers and make sure that funding, revenue, user counts and projections are not confused.

Practise answering questions directly before adding supporting context. Establish what information is confidential and how to respond if a question falls outside your expertise. If a claim is uncertain, say so rather than guessing.
