The right startup incubator should help a founder address specific gaps in the business. A well-known name alone does not guarantee a good fit.
Compare each incubator's sector focus, stage requirements, mentor expertise, infrastructure, programme duration, fees and funding-related support. Ask how often founders interact with mentors, whether support is tailored to individual needs and what expectations apply to participants.
Review programme terms carefully, including equity requirements where applicable, intellectual-property provisions, reporting obligations and conditions for using facilities. Speak with current or former participants when possible and ask about practical experiences rather than relying only on promotional material.
Choose an incubator based on the next milestone the startup needs to reach. A technical venture may prioritise lab access, while a software business may need customer introductions or product mentoring.
